Q: I have Canon Legria HF M46 and I would want to edit my AVCHD MTS within hitfilm 2 express. As now it says AC3 is not supported, and when I am trying to mess with composite shots it acts REALLY laggy. Preview window is around 12-15 FPS and when Istop/move frames in timeline, its freezes for about 10 seconds. If i need to convert my footage to another format, how will i do it?
A: People often recommend using a codec such a ProRes or DNxHD, on a PC I'd go for DNxHD. I've been having problems with m2ts files and used Avidemux to convert them to mp4 which made a huge difference. This is not re-encoding the audio/video but simply changing the container. So I switch to Aunsoft Video Converter which can help me convert MTS to DNxHD Codec and I could use it to convert the audio to aac or pcm.
